Go Green!

The challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs this week instructs us to use 'green' either as in color or as in recycled or re purposed.  I am trying some new techniques this week and this is one of the cards I made.  The green is in the nature element of a bird on a branch and also in the background paper which is a re-purposed page from an old song book.  I distress inked it before attaching to the card base, a new technique for me.  The sentiment is from ODBD Scripture Series 1.(It's one of the things I got with the gift certificate I won.) Have I said that I absolutely adore these stamps?!  The stamped images are so sharp and clear!  I attached the sentiment with a couple of brads.  I think it will make a nice generic card for a guy.

I may have been a little heavy handed on the ink distressing, but I expect to improve with practice.  I also intend to look into some Distress Inks.  So far I've just been using what I have on hand.  I'm sure that distress inks will give a more even look.
I am entering this card into the Our Daily Bread Designs 'go green' challenge and the Cute Card Thursday 'metallica' challenge.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a great week!

A Peaceful Scene.....

While I have only one set (so far) of Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, I am finding some interesting ways to use them.  I really love these stamps!  This weeks ODBD challenge instructs us to use the letters of the word 'SPRING' and use corresponding materials in our projects to at least 3 of those letters.  Here is how I lined it up in my card.  S=sea and shells,  P=pearls and paper, I=ink, G=green and gulls.  4 out of 6 is not too bad.  I would also like to enter this card into the ABC DT challenge 'anything goes',   Simon Says 'April Showers Bring Spring Flowers' and Cute Card Thursday #212 'Spring Flowers'.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a fabulous week!

Color Challenge...

I love a good color challenge  and The Play Date Cafe always has one that can get my creative juices flowing.   For this project I started with the avocado green card base.  I affixed a light blue panel to the front and cut out some fun flourishes in the green with my silhouette.  I glued the flourishes to the blue panel and die cut a matching butterfly which I also embossed with flourishes using my Big Shot and a cuttlebug embossing folder.  Next I dug out my nestabilities label 1dies and  some grey cardstock and cut a sweet little shape to build upon. The edges of the shape I inked with SU Always Artichoke ink.   I punched out some paper flowers with a 'Picture Punch' and added green pearls for the centers.  I also added green pearls for the body of the butterfly.  I glued the flowers to the grey die cut and added a blue chiffon ribbon and attached this to the card with dimensional adhesives. The sentiment is stamped on grey cardstock with edges inked with the SU Artichoke and attached with dimensional adhesives.

Here is their lovely color story for this challenge.

And here is my interpretation of it.

I also want to enter this card into The ABC Design Team anything goes challenge.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you have a great Easter holiday!
