Go Green!

The challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs this week instructs us to use 'green' either as in color or as in recycled or re purposed.  I am trying some new techniques this week and this is one of the cards I made.  The green is in the nature element of a bird on a branch and also in the background paper which is a re-purposed page from an old song book.  I distress inked it before attaching to the card base, a new technique for me.  The sentiment is from ODBD Scripture Series 1.(It's one of the things I got with the gift certificate I won.) Have I said that I absolutely adore these stamps?!  The stamped images are so sharp and clear!  I attached the sentiment with a couple of brads.  I think it will make a nice generic card for a guy.

I may have been a little heavy handed on the ink distressing, but I expect to improve with practice.  I also intend to look into some Distress Inks.  So far I've just been using what I have on hand.  I'm sure that distress inks will give a more even look.

Pink and Purple All Occasion Card

This simple little card will be great for any occasion.  It is done in pink, purple and green.  The purple panel is dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder.  The flower is fabric with an adhesive gem in the center.  I especially love the polka-dot satin ribbon.  The sentiment is short and to the point.  I want to enter this card into the Little Scrap Pieces challenge.

I Love Sketch Challenges!

I love the challenge of sketches!  I get endless inspiration from some awesome designers on the teams of the sketch challenges I participate in.  It's such fun to take a sketch and then work on pulling together different colors, papers and embellishments to create something pretty.  Tuesday Morning Sketches is offering a fabulous sketch this week with lots of shapes and layers.  I pulled out my 'Rosewood' pattern pack and started laying out different patterns and colors until I found the look that felt right to me.   Sadly, I'm always in need of sympathy cards, so I added a sympathy sentiment to this one.  I chose some bronze colored pearls to stick on and added a butterfly punched from my Martha Stewart Monarch butterfly punch.  I really like the way it turned out.  Hope you enjoy it also.

Can't Stop Creating...

Here is another card I made for the Our Daily Bread Designs S-P-R-I-N-G challenge.  For this card I used the scenic sea scape stamp from their The Mighty Sea stamp set.  I colored the scene with colored pencils and framed it.  The scripture is computer generated and just seemed right for this particular card today.  I cut the frame with a nestie.  The flowers are punched and the flourishes were cut with my silhouette.  S= sea,  P=paper and pearls,  I=ink,  N=nestabilities,  G=gulls and green.

Thinking of You in Blue...

The Perfect Sentiments challenge this week is for a card expressing 'thoughts of you' sentiments.  The twist is to make it monochromatic.  It didn't take me long to choose this awesome blue patterned paper from my 'Rosewood' pack.  And finding the other papers to use was also easy.  I love this color and the sentiment is great for so many different occasions.  I cut the sentiment label on my silhouette.  The flowers and the tiny butterflies were punched.  The sentiment was stamped blue on blue with Stampin Up Brocade Blue ink.  The set the stamp has no label so I can't tell you where it is from and the ribbon is from my stash.  The little stick-on gems are from Walmart.

A Peaceful Scene.....

While I have only one set (so far) of Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, I am finding some interesting ways to use them.  I really love these stamps!  This weeks ODBD challenge instructs us to use the letters of the word 'SPRING' and use corresponding materials in our projects to at least 3 of those letters.  Here is how I lined it up in my card.  S=sea and shells,  P=pearls and paper, I=ink, G=green and gulls.  4 out of 6 is not too bad.  I would also like to enter this card into the ABC DT challenge 'anything goes',   Simon Says 'April Showers Bring Spring Flowers' and Cute Card Thursday #212 'Spring Flowers'.

Mojo Masculine...

I just couldn't resist this weeks sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday.  Many of you who follow my blog may have figured out by now that I love to do something different every now and then, and this sketch gave me the perfect opportunity.  I've been eying these 57 Chevy's  for awhile and mulling over how I might use them in a card for a guy.  I used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo to produce the cars and also cut the swirly thing on my silhouette.  The sentiment is computer generated and the papers are just random from my stash.  I added the star brads as an afterthought.  That's all.  Sweet and simple.

Courting Caleb...

I must say that I have a growing appreciation for Digi Darla's stamps.  They are cute, easy to work with and she gives some of them away free.  This is one of the free digi's.  I wanted to try out some digital stamps to see if I could get the hang of downloading, printing and coloring them.  I'm finding that it's not that difficult.

I like this little guy.  He's a bit bashful looking, don't you think?  But he has his bouquet and he's off to see his girl even if it is raining.  I'm entering this little guy in the Simon Says challenge, 'April Showers Bring Spring Flowers' and ABC Design Team challenge 'anything goes'.

I used plain white card stock for the base of the card and layered on some navy blue which I dry embossed using my Big Shot and a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I then layered a sky blue marbled paper on to a deep red card stock panel.  Using a silver gel pen I drew on my rendition of raindrops.  I added some red grosgrain ribbon and 3 gold tone brads.  I cut the prongs off the brads and just glued them on with tacky glue to cut down on some of the bulk.  I glued a swirly paper clip to the top right corner to hold the sentiment. It just says 'Hi' cause he doesn't know what else to say.   Last, but not least, I added my love sick little guy standing on a grassy knoll in a bed of flowers.

Little Shopper...

Digi Darla's is hosting a benefit for children in Nicaragua.  Go on over here to find out how you can help.  I couldn't resist helping out and when I saw this adorable little digi stamp on sale as part of the deal, well who can ignore a bargain like that?!

So to help this mission Digi Darla is allowing a second entry into this week's challenge using Susanna Shopper as the focal.  So, not only do I get to work on my digital stamp and coloring skills, I get an extra chance to win the prize!  Can't beat that!

Here's what I came up with. The theme is festive flowers.  I am also entering this card into the ABC Design Team challenge 'anything goes'.

OK crafty friends, let's help this cause.  Children should never have to suffer from lack of the necessities of life.
