My Cute Little Owl

Busy, busy, busy!  Seems that there are just so many wonderful things to do!  And now the holidays are upon us with joyful times with friends and family!  My craft room doesn't see as much of me right now, but I have been able to make a start on some fun Christmas cards.  But lately my passion has been to crochet some delightful items for my family.

I don't have time to post pics of everything I am making, but this little owl phone cozy is one of my favs.  He was sooo much fun to make!

I list a few of my crochet items on Etsy,  (just the really fun ones)  and this is one of them.  And you can see him here.   I think my teenage grand-daughters are going to get a kick out of this gift!

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all!!!!

Cards for Men Challenge

Making cards for  men always takes a bit more thought and planning.  Most men are not that interested in flowers and butterflies.  This antique car cut-out is perfect!  I am entering this card into the Cards for Men sketch challenge.

Clean and Simple 'Thinking of You' in Warm Colors

It's autumn and that brings thoughts of snuggling down in a cozy sweater with a cup of something warm and delicious to drink.  It also brings to mind the beautiful fall colors that mark the end of summer and the soon approaching winter months, at least here in the mid-west.  I must say that I think this fall has given the most spectacular display of brilliant fall colors that I have seen in several years.  This card was inspired not only by the fall colors, but by this sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp.

This is the card I made.  I like that this card would be great for a guy since cards for men
are usually in short supply around my house.

Simple Black and White

I love the clean and crisp look of this card!  I cut the scalloped oval on my Cameo and used my Martha Steward Monarch Butterfly punch for the large butterfly.  The small butterflies were punched on a tiny little Studio g punch.  I really love this little punch to add small details to my creations.  The entire card is layered with black and white only and I added a bit of ribbon imprinted with butterflies that I just happened to have on hand.  (Thanks Sis!)  The sentiment is from Close to my Heart stamp set 'Sympathy'.   I use this sentiment a lot just because it is appropriate for so many different occasions.

Bright and Cheery Gatefold Card

Every now and then I get to a card that utilizes several of my favorite card making tools.  This gate-fold card is one of those.  I actually cut the card base on my Silhouette Cameo.  The front panels are embossed on my Big Shot using a Cuttlebug  embossing folder.  The flowers were punched with a Picture Punch.  The inside of the card features some awesome Gina K paper and a couple of butterflies punched with my Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch.  A bit of organza ribbon adhered to the back and tied in the front keep the card closed.

This sketch from The Paper Players provided inspiration, although I did move the elements around a bit.

And here is the finished product.

And the inside.
