Turtle 'Thinking of You'...

This adorable little turtle is a free digi and I'm afraid I don't know where it came from.  But isn't he cute?  I colored him using my colored pencils and a blending pen.  Then I cut him out and glued him to my distressed circle.  The grass and the cattail plants were cut out with my Silhouette Cameo.  The flowers were embossed using a cuttlebug folder and my Big Shot, then punched out with a Picture Punch, layered and an adhesive gem added for the center.  The sentiment is from Close to my Heart.  The patterned papers are from my stash.

Perfect Sentiments.....

I don't know of a more perfect sentiment than something from the Word of God.  This passage from Zephaniah is one of my all time favorites.  I love knowing that God is rejoicing over me with singing.   I also love this awesome sketch from The Perfect Sentiment challenge.

Freshly Made...

The folks over at Freshly Made Sketches are helping me learn that less is more.  Their emphasis on 'clean and simple' provides a challenge for me, as I tend to keep adding stuff to my card creations until there is no space left.  I probably over did it again this week, but I'm trying.  I chose some bright, fun colors for this card.  The card base is red and the plaid panel is perfect for what I had in mind.  The scripture sentiment, though starting out with some sad truths, ends on a positive and cheerful note, and I wanted the other elements of the card to reflect this.

Word Art Wednesday...

Word Art Wednesday is a new blog I've started following.  Well, they have been around for a while, but their blog is new to me.  Each week they offer a verse of scripture that can be downloaded free of charge to use in our artwork.  While they do not require that we use their scripture on our projects to gain entry into their challenges, their verses are awesome and the fonts are just wonderful!  Not being so tech savvy, I had to ask for their help in how to download the verses, and they were great to help me.  This is the card I made using their verse from Hebrews.

I started with a light blue card base and added this wonderful designed paper which I faux stitched around the perimeter.  I printed and cut out the sentiment label with my silhouette cameo making the green label just a tad bit larger than the lavender for layering, then more faux stitching.  I felt the background needed something bold and striking, so I found this flower cut-out in my silhouette store, purchased it and cut it out of black cardstock.  I mounted it and the sentiment with dimensional foam and added the adhesive pearls on the opposing corners. Lastly, a sweet little green satin bow.  Different?  Yes!  But that's what I love to do.  The only thing I would like to see different on it is if the print of the sentiment were darker.  I'll have to check my printer settings.

Classy Black and White...

I really love the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches this week.  But then, I love sketches in general.  But this one offers so many different possibilities.  This card is about as close to 'clean and simple' as I get.  Done in black and white on a gray plaid background, it has a classy feel about it.  I added a bit of black satin ribbon and 3 little white adhesive pearls for accents.  The inside is lined with white paper to write a message on.  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs 'Scripture Series 1' stamps.

A Sketch in Pastels...

Tuesday Morning Sketches has an awesome sketch this week.  Here it is.

And here is the card I came up with.
I started with a lavender card base and added a pastel diagonal patterned layer.  I then added the corner accents and satin ribbon.  The focal of this card is a beautiful section of scripture mounted on a pastel green panel.  Three little lavender adhesive pearls finish the sketch.

A Sweet Sketch Challenge...

Simon Says challenged us this week with this sketch.

I have been trying to make cards more suitable for either gender lately and this is what I came up with for this challenge.

I started with a dark green card base and added the layers from my stash of random papers.  I thought the upper left hand corner needed something so I added star shaped brads which accents the stars on the gold paper.  The green polka dot grosgrain ribbon sort of plays off the big green polka dot panel.  The sentiment is one of my favorite verses of scripture and is from Our Daily Bread Designs 'Scripture Series 1'.
